Do I have to register to use the forums?
To view messages and threads you do not have to register to use the forum. To interact with the forum such as replying or starting new threads then you have to register.
How do I sign up to use the forums?
There are 2 ways to sign up to the forum:
- Try and start or reply to a post and you will be automatically be redirected to the signin/signup page.
- Find the link below the main horizonal menu system, top of page and click.
How can I reply to messages on the forum?
Find the thread that you want to reply to and look for the button below.
Click on the button and you will be taken to the compose screen if you have signed in, otherwise you will be prompted to sign in.
Who do I report abuse to?
You can report abuse to us and we investigate. Find the contact page in about us section or on the main forum page and you will be taken to a form that you must complete before we can do anything else.
How do I start a new thread on the forums?
Click on the forum that you want the thread to exist in and look for the button below.
Click on the button and if you are signed in then you will be able to start a new thread.

What is Adobe Acrobat and do I need have it to use this site?
Adobe Acrobat is software that allows you to download and view pdf documents that are often small in size. This makes pdf files a good choice amongst webmasters to distribute their content so the users can print and read content offline without having to wait for a while just for the document to download.
You do not need to install Adobe Acrobat to use this site unless you want to download pdf documents that resides on this site and normally a message will prompt you you to install Adobe Acrobat if you have it on disk or if you wish to download off http://www.abobe.com.

What is Macromedia Flash and do I need it to use this site?
Macromedia Flash is software that web and multimedia developers with various uses. This site uses Flash to make it more interactive and produce visual effects.
To view Flash, your browser will require Flash Player to be installed. This can be downloaded from the Macromedia website, http://www.macromedia.com but normally when you try and view Flash you will be prompted to download Flash Player if you do not already have it.
So you do need the Flash Player if you want to use this site to its full potential.
What browsers can I use to view this site with?
You can use any mainstream browser to view this site with. At the time when this website was developed, the mainstream browsers were:

- Mozilla Firefox
- Internet Explorer 5

To use this site do I need Javascript to be enabled?
4hip.co.uk requires you to have javascript enabled as there are features such as a countdown clock and intereactive navigation features that require you to have a javascript enabled browser.
Every browser you install should also install the Java plugin that runs Javascript. You can diasble the Java plugin during installation or in your browsers internet options, if you have this disabled then enable it. What screen resolutions can this site be viewed with?
This site was developed to suit a user viewing the site with a screen resoltion of 1024 x 768 pixels. 800 x 600 will also be effective but will require you to scroll down a lot more than any of the higher screen resolutions.
Anything lower than 800 x 600 is not recommended due to the amounts of content on the site.
